JBL's AirPlay-capable On Air Wireless dock hits FCC

One of JBL's plans for CES was given away today as an FCC filing has uncovered its first AirPlay-capable speaker dock. The On Air Wireless will let users either play from a docked iPhone or iPod as well as push audio over Wi-Fi from those same devices as well as an iPad or computer. Despite the network link, it won't stream Internet radio directly and still needs an outside device.

A relatively large LCD is present and here is not only used to show the clock, track info or the current FM radio station but to get the On Air Wireless on the local network. JBL's new model supports repeating and gradual alarm functions as well as the common aux input for non-Apple hardware. The USB port on the back is only for loading firmware updates from removable storage, however, and won't sync with a computer, the accessory maker said.

No clues exist directly in the filing as to when the clock radio dock will arrive, but many iOS accessory makers are now using CES to unveil their hardware and make the early January expo the most probable place for an unveiling, although it may not ship immediately. [via CrunchGear]
